A river port and a rail town
The Army founded Camp Monroe on Lake Monroe in 1836 and renamed it Fort Mellon after an 1837 attack. Sanford grew as the head of navigation on the St. Johns River, survived a devastating fire in 1887, and became known for celery after 1896. Today it's home to Orlando Sanford International Airport and the southern end of Amtrak's Auto Train, which runs to Lorton, Virginia. Downtown and older neighborhoods keep much of their older commercial and residential architecture.

Rules that apply
The city issues its own permits. Florida's stormwater, burning, pool and Sunshine 811 rules apply too. See permits.
Requests also come from Lake Mary, Oviedo, Deltona. All areas.
